Doesn't that Stink?
But from the doesn't that stink file, the fact that you are going to have to line up earlier than ever this year to get those deals!
With Macy's talking an 8p.m. start time on Thanksgiving, 8:00 has become the new midnight.
At Toys r Us, Walmart, Target and many other stores, the deals start right after dinner time, so forget about the pumpkin pie. (Toys r Us opened at 8p.m. last year, Target at 9p.m.)
Bottom line: The days where the big deals started Friday morning are over: Black Friday is now Thanksgiving night.
The good news is there is no need to stand outside all night long anymore. That way you don't waste your time and you don't waste your money.
Deal News notes that the Wednesday before Thanksgiving through the Wednesday after Cyber Monday is what they now call "National Deal Week." Some retail stores and sites, including Walmart and Amazon.com have even started an entire "Cyber Deals Week," on the Monday of Thanksgiving week, allowing customers to partake in deals extra early. In fact, it seems that online has become more popular over the past decade, as consumers opt to stay in and shop rather than try to fight with the potentially-cold weather and tough crowds to get their hands on a deal.
The report brings up an interesting fact, and that is that in the past, leaked Black Friday ads online from stores, have led to Amazon releasing similar or better deals for customers, in advance of the store's "Black Friday sale" or "Doorbusters." That has led the stores to releasing their deals a day early, on Thanksgiving Day, in many cases. While the Deal News site projects the facts that most of their best deals have appeared on Thanksgiving Day, they still advise consumers to observe deals throughout the season so they can get the best sale price on the particular item(s) they may want to buy.
Black Friday 2013 will arrive sooner than most expect. The shopping holiday arrives on Friday, Nov. 29, just a day after Thanksgiving 2013. Will you be standing in line, or staying home and shopping online for this holiday season?
